Summary of Request:
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) provides funds to the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program of the Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health Branch, to support pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum women and their children. These funds enable the WIC program to provide services to help mothers and young children stay healthy. Qualifying WIC participants are eligible to receive nutrition education, vouchers for nutritious food, breastfeeding support, and referrals to medical providers and community services. WIC currently provides these supportive services at nine locations throughout the County.
The original amount of revenue Agreement No. 19-10160 was $2,861,604. The first Amendment increased the total amount by $49,950 for a new total of $2,911,554. The proposed amendment increases the total amount by $97,168 for a new total of $3,008,722. The increased funding will support the County's needs for actual expenses invoiced for the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.
