Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
No previous action.
Summary of Request:
In April of 2016, the City of Ukiah (City), on behalf of the Russian River Watershed Association (RRWA) and its eleven member agencies, wrote and submitted a grant application in the amount of $500,000 to complete a SWRP for the entire watershed. The agencies included are:
• The City of Cloverdale
• The City of Cotati
• The City of Healdsburg
• The City of Rohnert Park
• The City of Sebastopol
• The City of Ukiah
• The County of Mendocino
• The County of Sonoma
• The Sonoma County Water Agency, and
• The Town of Windsor
The goal of a Stormwater Resource Plan (SWRP) is to identify projects that capture and re-use storm water runoff to provide multiple benefits, including environmental, flood control, groundwater recharge, and recreational opportunities. The grant agreement requires the participating government entities enter into a Memorandum of Understand with the City of Ukiah outlining the match contributions for the grant. The County will be providing in-kind services for staff time on this project. The in-kind services will count as local match funding required by the grant. Participating in the SWRP will allow the County of Mendocino to seek future Proposition 1 funding for stormwater projects. The Water Agency is requesting the Board of Supervisors authorize the Chief Executive Officer to sign the final MOU agreement. The draft agreement is attached for Board review.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Provide alternative direction.
