Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
October 18, 2022, Item 3(p) Approval of Retroactive Grant Agreement with Tulare County Superintendent of Schools in the Amount of $19,000, to Implement a Club Live/Friday Night Live Chapter, Effective July 1, 2022 Through June 30, 2023
Summary of Request:
Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) opted in for SABG Friday Night Live funding through the California Friday Night Live Partnership - A California Department of Education Mini-Grant 2022 -24 Tobacco/Vaping Advocacy Project that is administered by the Tulare Office of Education. The Community Wellness Unit, part of Mendocino County BHRS, promotes wellness and health equity through programs designed to prevent problems before they occur. We work within communities and with other stakeholders to reach our goal: to increase the number of Mendocino County residents who are healthy at every stage of life.
The Friday Night Live Tobacco Advocacy Project administered by BHRS provides young people involved in the Friday Night Live Chapters, the opportunity to take part in advocacy and peer education efforts specific to tobacco and alternative tobacco products. The individuals involved with the project build partnerships for positive and healthy youth development by engaging as active leaders and resources in their communities.
This amendment will extend the agreement by one year and increase the amount of the agreement.
This amendment is retroactive because the original documentation sent required revisions and the final was received by BHRS after the July 1, 2023 start date.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Return to staff for alternative handling.
