Summary of Request:
Mendocino County Department of Social Services (MCDSS) issued a Request for Proposal (RFP 015-22) for indigent cremations in February 2022. Eversole Mortuary was selected to contract with MCDSS as a result of the RFP, to provide Indigent Cremation Services for the identified regions of “North County” and “Inland” within Mendocino County. Utilization review of these services from the period of July 2024 through March 2025 shows that Mendocino County processed claims for 25 County Cremations through Mendocino County Public Authority. In review of cremation service utilization by region, the Inland region which includes the most populous City of Ukiah, accounts for the largest percentage of cremations provided countywide.
Since Indigent Cremation Services are mandated by the California Welfare and Institutions Code (WIC) for those decedents or families of decedents who meet specific criteria, and since the services provided by Eversole Mortuary continue to meet the need, MCDSS has chosen to contract with Eversole Mortuary for Fiscal Year 2025-26 through the proposed Agreement
