Ratify submission of grant application for the Bureau of Justice Assistance FY25 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program Local Formula in the amount of $13,865 for the replacement of aging computer equipment; and authorize the Sheriff to accept the funds and sign the resulting Revenue Agreement if awarded by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

Summary of Request:
The U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, offers annual funding to local law enforcement agencies through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program. The program provides funding for personnel, equipment, supplies, training, technical assistance, and information technology systems that support law enforcement operations. For 2026, the Sheriff’s Office is eligible to receive $13,865, with an application deadline of April 28, 2026. The Sheriff’s Office proposes to use these funds to replace aging computer equipment essential to frontline staff and support personnel. Approval of this item will initiate a 30-day public comment period during which residents and community organizations may review and provide input on the proposed grant application. The DOJ, BJA released the Notice of Funding Opportunity on March 13, 2026, and has a retroactive grant performance period of October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2026.
