Approve Agreement with Alice Cheng, MD in the amount of $100,000, to provide psychiatric consultation and medication support services to Mendocino County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services clients, effective July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027; authorize the Health Services Director or designee to sign any future amendments to the Agreement that do not increase the annual maximum amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

Summary of Request:
Psychiatric medication support services are required services for Specialty Mental Health clients, and Mental Health Plans must ensure the availability and provision of these services. Alice Cheng, MD is a licensed medical practitioner who provides psychiatric services for the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness. In addition to delivering psychiatric care, Dr. Cheng serves as the Medical Director for Mendocino County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services, providing consultation to staff conducting Treatment Authorization Request (TAR) reviews and offering consultation to the Public Conservator and the LPS Placement Team as needed.
Mendocino County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services started contracting with Dr. Cheng in 24/25 and intends to continue to contract with Dr. Cheng for 26/27. Dr. Cheng is a unique vendor who offers these very much needed psychiatric services to Behavioral Health and Recovery Services and there is no other vendor available and willing to provide these services within Mendocino County.
