Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On June 23, 2026, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Master Position Allocation Table for the FY 2026-2027 Budget, Resolution Number 26-107.
Summary of Request:
The Human Resources Department is charged, as part of the overall maintenance of the classification and compensation plan, to evaluate current classifications, create new classifications (including appropriate salary levels), reclassify positions, examine requests for salary grade adjustments, analyze allocations, and make recommendations for additions, modifications, and corrections.
The Museum Director classification has not been utilized by the County since 2017. In 2018, the County formulated Cultural Services Agency consisting of Parks, Library and Museum. Over time, the organizational structure evolved, with Parks separating from the Agency, followed by the Library and Museum becoming independent departments in early 2024.
Following the dissolution of the Cultural Services Agency and the re-establishment of the Museum as an independent department, the Museum has operated without a designated Museum Director. Although the Museum has demonstrated its ability to maintain operations without a designated Director, the continued absence of a dedicated department head is not an effective long-term organizational structure for an independent County department. Re-establishing a Director position is critical to providing clear leadership, accountability, and strategic direction for the Museum and to ensure current and future operational needs are met.
The impact below for this fiscal year is calculated at step 5 and includes the cost of benefits. The recurring cost shown below is calculated at step 5, including the cost of benefits.
