Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
The Mendocino County Air Quality Management District Board has previously identified Subvention Funds in its budget.
Summary of Request:
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) provides Subvention Funds to local air pollution control districts to support their air quality initiatives. Districts must apply to CARB in October of each year for Subvention Funds. There are two types of Subvention Funds, one allocated based on district population, and a second that districts may request funding for.
The application consists of two (2) parts: (1) the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Application for Subvention funds; and (2) the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Year-End Financial Reporting indicating the District’s appropriations (Not including AB 923 Motor Vehicle Fund Revenue) exceeded the required match for that year’s subvention grant as required by state law. A copy of the application is attached, which includes the baseline Subvention funds in the amount of $34,400 in addition to Supplemental Subvention funds request in the amount of $40,000 for various Air Quality expenses listed on page 4 of the attached application, which will enhance the services provided by the District to increase air quality for Mendocino County.
The District Air Pollution Control Officer requests the Board’s ratification of the District’s application for Subvention Funds and the delegation of authority to take all necessary steps to receive these funds.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Do not approve, provide an alternate direction to District staff and return item to District staff for handling.
