Summary of Request:
The Library has completed a Letter of Agency with the California State Library which contracts an aggregator to apply for E-Rate as well as CTF discounts on behalf of CENIC network consortium of participating libraries. On January 1st, 2024, ICEO was selected to take over the aggregator duties from the previous contractor, Columbia Telecommunications Corporation (CTC) which was approved as BOS agreement 22-133. The current expense for broadband at all six library branches is approximately $20,000 per year and will decrease further when additional E-Rate and CTF discounts have been applied.
The Library plays a vital role in providing highspeed broadband access to residents throughout our County, and participation in the CENIC network consortium allows this to be provided at a lower cost helping to further the Strategic Plan goal of An Effective County Government.
