Summary of Request:
On September 5, 2025, Health Services (HS) received an invitation to apply for the Clean California Community Cleanup and Employment Pathways Grant Program. For locally led litter abatement in local public rights-of-way that transform them into spaces the community can be proud of. Goals are to clean up litter/graffiti, reestablish native plants, and establish workforce pathways for vulnerable populations.
HS created the proposed grant application for the Clean California Community Cleanup and Employment Pathways Grant Program, submitted it to the California Department of Transportation (DOT) on November 3, 2025, and is now seeking Board of Supervisors (BOS) ratification of application submission, and approval for the Health Services Director to execute the grant Agreement, if awarded. Through the grant Agreement, HS will use funds to support individuals experiencing homelessness, provide education and job training, and repurpose sites to create public spaces for future use.
Due to time constraints, the grant application was submitted to DOT prior to BOS approval. HS is now seeking BOS ratification of the grant application, and authorization for the Health Services Director to execute the grant Agreement, if awarded.
