Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On June 22, 2021, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Master Position Allocation Table for the FY 2021-2022 Budget, Resolution Number 21-090.
Summary of Request:
The Human Resources Department is charged, as part of the overall maintenance of the classification and compensation plan, to evaluate current classifications, create new classifications (including appropriate salary levels), reclassify positions, examine requests for salary grade adjustments, analyze allocations, and make recommendations for additions, modifications, and corrections.
The classification of Assistant Social Services Director was used by the Social Services Department prior to the establishment of the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA); it has been inactive since 2006. With the re-establishment of Social Services as a stand-alone department, the Director Social Services has requested to utilize the Assistant Director Social Services Due to its inactive status, it has not been part of any salary adjustments or cost of living adjustments (COLA). Therefore, Human Resources recommends the Board approve the proposed pay range that re-establishes the Assistant Director Social Services at $61.30-$74.52/hour; $127,504.00 - $155,001.60. In accordance with Resolution Number 18-150 this classification should be re-established as At-Will and unrepresented by bargaining unit.
The impact shown below for this fiscal year reflects the approximate increase to Budget Unit 5010 if filled during pay period 06-22 (March 6, 2022) at Step 5, and includes the cost of benefits. The annual recurring cost shown below is calculated at Step 5 including the cost of benefits.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Do not adopt proposed salary and direct staff.
