Summary of Request:
In Mendocino County, the placement and care of children who have been removed from the custody of their parents or guardians under Welfare and Institutions Code Section 300 is the responsibility of the Mendocino County Health and Human Services Agency/Family and Children’s Services (FCS). As part of meeting this requirement, FCS contracts with Tapestry Family Services (TFS) for the provision of emergency foster home placement services to youth in Mendocino County.
TFS is a licensed Foster Family Agency, and will provide home-based placements for children from birth to eighteen years of age who are in need of immediate, emergency foster care placement. TFS will provide at least four on-call homes (at least seven combined total beds) each month that are ready to receive immediate, emergency placements. Over 8 months in Fiscal Year 20/21, TFS had an average of 4 children per month in emergency placements.
