Summary of Request

In 2011, the Health and Human Services Agency Advisory Board launched the Healthy Mendocino initiative with the goal of improving quality of life and policy decision making in Mendocino County through the sharing of accurate local data. With support from a coalition of community partners, Healthy Mendocino sponsors projects that encourage informed dialogue about the actions local residents and organizations can take to improve community health. One such project is the Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP). CHIP, which builds on the Community Health Needs Assessment completed in early 2016, engages citizens and organizations within Mendocino County to improve local health and the factors that influence it.

In support of Healthy Mendocino, and pursuant to the proposed Agreement, North Coast Opportunities (NCO) will recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff to oversee the continued successful implementation of CHIP. Staff will focus on five priority areas (housing, poverty, mental health, childhood trauma, and family wellness) and will develop and lead Action Teams around the County that target the five areas. NCO will update the Healthy Mendocino website weekly to reflect the work accomplished through this Agreement.
