Summary of Request:
The one-time addition of 2 (two) hours of annual wellness leave is to be used by June 30th, 2018 for emergency preparedness planning, for all county employees to perform a home inventory of personal belongings to be prepared in the event of an emergency. Time off shall be requested and approved in accordance with Wellness Participation Policy No. 29 (Attachment A).
Background: During the recent fire it was discovered that only a small percentage of those who experienced a loss of personal property had a record of their home inventory. To assist our employees with emergency preparedness, the Executive Office and Human Resources recommend a one-time program adding 2 (two) hours to annual wellness leave, expiring June 30th, 2018, specifically for the completion of a home inventory.
Packets containing the Home Inventory Form provided by the California Department of Insurance (Attachment B) will be available to employees and may be used for documentation of their home inventory.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Return item to staff with further direction.
