The Economic Development Division position was established by the Board of Supervisors on September 12, 2023, resolution number 24-0279 and previous division reports were presented to and accepted by the Board on May 21, 2024 and February 27, 2024.                     

 

Summary of Request

This report provides a summary of the economy in Mendocino County, current initiatives and actions taken by the Economic Development Division staff as guided by the Strategic Plan. It includes a summary of federal, state and local economic conditions, including unemployment rates, median home prices and median income. The Economic Development Division works in three main areas of development: workforce development, technical assistance, and housing. This report provides updates on staff activity including EPA RERC (Recreation Economy for Rural Communities), research of EDA PWEAA funding for research and planning in fire-safe construction and home hardening, notable meetings with EDA, SBA and private sector, updates on SMEDD (Sonoma Mendocino Economic Development District) and California Jobs First.
