December 14, 2021, Item 6(a), approval to invest one-time Pacific Gas and Electric disaster settlement funds in the amount of $1,000,000 to fund Mendocino County Association of Fire Districts, with $45,454.55 to each of the twenty-two districts.
Summary of Request:
On December 14, 2021, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors (BOS) approved investing one-time Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) disaster settlement funds in the amount of $1,000,000 to fund Mendocino County Association of Fire Districts (MCAFD). Through this approval, each of the twenty-two districts will receive $45,454.55 for various purchases and projects according to the BOS approved MCAFD PG&E Settlement Allocations. The proposed contract with South Coast Fire Protection District for purchase of GPS-Garmin 755T, iPads, saws, gas monitors, Honda pump, tires, handheld radios, step cribbing, ric packs, extrication tools, personal protective equipment, web gear, positive pressure ventilation fan, structure nozzles, ripper glass cutter, small tools, wildland nozzles, thermal imaging camera, hand tools, and hose packs is among the contracts approved.
Pursuant to the proposed Agreement, South Coast Fire Protection District will utilize funding to purchase equipment and supplies, for use primarily in and around Mendocino County. Award of PG&E funds for this purpose will support South Coast Fire Protection District’s provision of services in Mendocino County, enhancing the County’s resiliency and directly facilitating effective response to disaster.
