The Board has approved the modification of hours of operation for Ukiah Library on July 24, 2018 and for the Willits Library on October 18, 2016.
Summary of Request:
The Mendocino County Museum is requesting a change to its open hours. The current schedule is Wednesday through Sunday 10:00 am to 4:30 pm which does not allow for later afternoon or evening visits and programs. In preparation for the change, the community was surveyed for several weeks to assess concerns and preferences. The responses made it clear that the majority of people have not visited the Museum or visited only once and a change would make it more accessible to people with a variety of schedules.
The proposed schedule is Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Thursday from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. The Museum would be increasing total weekly hours from 32.5 to 34 and the change would assist with staff scheduling. The proposed change would also allow for evening programs and earlier visits from schools. Another benefit is that the change will be closer to the Willits Library hours and will make it easier for the public to visit both locations.
