Summary of Request:
As part of the County of Mendocino’s CDBG Mitigation - Planning and Public Services (MIT-PPS) awarded grant the County included a scope of work and budgeted item to update the current Mendocino County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (MC CWPP) which was created in 2005 and was partially updated in 2015. This new update to the plan would include newer CalFire planning data, updated priorities, focusing on new at-risk communities, and utilizing updated information available to provide a roadmap for more effective countywide wildfire readiness.
The purpose of this agreement is to contract with the selected vendor to update and improve the Community Wildfire Protection Plan which will serve a critical function of helping to renew agency collaborations and ensure that the County has the best available information and currently relevant plans. Beyond renewing collaborations and updating the plan the County hopes to include data comparing the strategic value, degree of readiness, and estimated cost of high-priority proposed mitigation efforts, so that the relative urgency of projects across County jurisdictions can be assessed and prioritized. The County also hopes to add a process for tracking plan accomplishments.
