Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On October 10, 2017, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 17-147, declaring an emergency related to the Redwood Complex Fire. This Resolution has been adopted monthly declaring continuations of the local emergency.
Summary of Request:
On October 9, 2017, the Redwood Fire started and has resulted in significant structural damage to several portions of the county. On October 9, 2017, the Mendocino County Chief Executive Officer/Director of Emergency services proclaimed, by delegation, that a state of emergency exists. On October 10, 2017, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 17-147, declaring an emergency related to the Redwood Complex Fire. On October 31, 2017, November 14, 2017, November 21, 2017, December 5, 2017, December 19, 2017, January 9, 2018, February 6, 2018, February 27, 2018, March 27, 2018, April 24, 2018, May 22, 2018, June 19, 2018, July 10, 2018, August 7, 2018, August 21, 2018, September 11, 2018, October 2, 2018, October 16, 2018, November 6, 2018, December 4, 2018, and December 18, 2018, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution Nos. 17-153, 17-164, 17-174, 17-176, 17-194, 18-004, 18-016, 18-027, 18-039, 18-056, 18-071, 18-081, 18-090, 18-106, 18-124, 18-132, 18-144, 18-160, 18-175, and 18-195 respectively, declaring continuations of the Local Emergency.
As of June 12, 2018, all 321 properties that arranged for cleanup through the public Consolidated Debris Removal Program have been cleared and the County has received all final soil testing results.
Pursuant to MMC Section 7.04.090 (3), the Board of Supervisors shall review, at its regularly scheduled meetings until the local emergency is terminated, the need for continuing the local emergency. However, in no event shall a review take place more than thirty (30) days after the previous review. It is proposed that at its meeting on January 8, 2019, the Board of Supervisors adopt a Resolution declaring the continuation of the local emergency.
