The Board has previously authorized, by resolution, the CEO / Director and Sheriff-Coroner / Assistant Director, and/or Undersheriff to execute for, and on behalf of, the County of Mendocino any actions necessary for the administration of the State Homeland Security Grant and the Emergency Management Performance Grant. The last approvals were for fiscal year 2020, 2021 and 2022
Summary of Request:
The State Homeland Security Grant is pass-through funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to the State of California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) and down to the individual Operational Areas. Funding is used to support state, tribal, territorial, and local preparedness activities that address high priority preparedness gaps across all core capabilities that support terrorism preparedness.
The Emergency Management Performance Grant is pass-through funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to the State of California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) and down to the individual Operational Areas. Currently the Emergency Management Performance Grant requires a dollar for dollar (100%) local match of funds. Funding is used to support activities that contribute to Mendocino County’s capability to prevent, prepare for, mitigate against, respond to and recover from emergencies and disasters, whether natural or man-made.
Each grant requires a certified copy of the Board of Supervisors resolution, valid for up to three grant years for all subawards, appointing agents authorized to execute any actions necessary under these grants with the State Homeland Security Grant and the Emergency Management Performance Grant.
