Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

On June 23, 2024, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Master Position Allocation Table for the FY 2024-2025 Budget, Resolution Number 24-098.

Summary of Request

The Human Resources Department is charged, as part of the overall maintenance of the classification and compensation plan, to evaluate current classifications, create new classifications (including appropriate salary levels), reclassify positions, examine requests for salary grade adjustments, analyze allocations, and make recommendations for additions, modifications, and corrections.

As per the direction of the Board of Supervisors at the June 4, 2024 meeting, Human Resources has completed the first quarterly review of the Position Allocation Table.  Attachment A lists a total of twenty-eight (28) full time positions which have been vacant for a period of eighteen (18) months or longer and are not designated as public safety.  With the Board’s approval, Human Resources will delete from the Position Allocation Table five (5) positions from budget unit 3010, Department of Transportation; one (1) positions from budget unit 4013, Public Health Nursing; six (6) positions including from budget unit 4049, Substance Use Disorder Treatment; five (5) positions from budget unit 4050, Mental Health, and eleven (11) positions from budget unit 5010, Social Services which are currently vacant unfunded frozen.

By eliminating vacant positions we are improving our vacancy rate, helping to streamline budgeting and resource allocation, allowing for more accurate financial planning, providing enhanced accountability by focusing only on filled positions and clarifying responsibilities and performance expectations for existing staff, as well as increasing operational efficiency by focusing attention on current needs and priorities.
