Summary of Request:
The Board of Supervisors is being asked to adopt a proclamation recognizing Jim Hurst for his longstanding civic leadership, volunteer service, and contributions to protecting and strengthening local health care services on the Mendocino Coast.
Jim Hurst served as a co-founder of the Mendocino Coast Hospital Foundation and played a significant leadership role in supporting the preservation and advancement of local health care services. He also served as Co-Chair of the successful Measure C Parcel Tax campaign, helping lead community outreach and advocacy efforts that resulted in voter approval of Measure C in 2018 to provide critical financial support for local hospital services.
Following the passage of Measure C, Jim Hurst was appointed Chair of the Measure C Citizen’s Oversight Committee and served in that role from January 2019 through January 2026, providing leadership, accountability, and public transparency regarding oversight of Measure C parcel tax revenues.
The proclamation recognizes Jim Hurst’s sustained volunteer service, civic leadership, and contributions to protecting access to local health care services for the Mendocino Coast community. Adoption of the proclamation is ceremonial in nature and does not have fiscal impact.
