August 17, 2021, Item 4(f), acceptance of prioritized spend for projects utilizing Pacific Gas and Electric disaster settlement funds; discussion and request for the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Ad Hoc to work with the Mendocino County Association of Fire Districts to return with a plan for a fair and balanced allocation of $1,000,000 to benefit fire services County-wide.
December 14, 2021, Item 6(a), approval to invest one-time Pacific Gas and Electric disaster settlement funds in the amount of $1,000,000 to fund Mendocino County Association of Fire Districts, with $45,454.55 to each of the twenty-two districts, including approval to award $45,454.55 to Elk Community Services District for purchase of wildland gear, equipment, and self-contained breathing apparatuses.
Summary of Request:
On December 14, 2021, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors (BOS) approved investing one-time Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) disaster settlement funds in the amount of $1,000,000 to fund Mendocino County Association of Fire Districts (MCAFD). Through this approval, each of the twenty-two districts will receive $45,454.55 for various purchases and projects according to the BOS approved MCAFD PG&E Settlement Allocations. The proposed contract with Elk Community Services District (Elk CSD) in the amount of $45,454.55 for purchase of wildland gear, equipment, and self-contained breathing apparatuses is among the contracts approved by the BOS.
Pursuant to the proposed Agreement, Elk CSD will utilize funding to purchase twenty wildland coats, twenty Nomex pants, twenty wildland helmets, twenty neck protectors, twenty pairs of rubber goggles, twenty pairs of wildland gloves, twelve station uniform shirts, eight fire shelters, a trash pump, wildland deployment hose fittings, eight wildland packs, three Indian backpack fire pumps, twenty Fireboss fire hoses, ten self-contained breathing apparatuses, for use primarily in and around Mendocino County. Award of PG&E funds for this purpose will support Elk CSD’s provision of services in Mendocino County, enhancing the County’s resiliency and directly facilitating effective response to disaster.
