recommendation

Designate the Mendocino County Department of Agriculture to be the local public entity to receive funds allocated by CDFA for local assistance in regard to Pierce’s Disease and its vectors, and other designated pests and diseases.

End

Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

The Board regularly approves reimbursement agreements with the State for detection trapping activities.  A recent example includes approval of BOS Agreement 23-1155, Cooperative Agreement with the California Department of Food and Agriculture providing reimbursement for Pest Detection trapping activities.

Summary of Request

The CDFA has requested the Board make a designation regarding the local public entity to receive funds allocated by CDFA for work done related to Pierce’s Disease and its vectors, and other designated pests and diseases.  For the 2024 contract, reimbursable work related to this program can bring in up to $18,546.85 to the Ag Department.

Alternative Action/Motion:

Provide direction to staff, or deny the designation which will result in the Department not being able to receive reimbursement for trapping activities performed by County Staff.
