Authorize award to and approve an agreement with Cupples and Sons Construction Inc. in the amount of $2,148,000 for the Capital Improvement (CI) project to complete the Sheriff’s 911 Data Center Building, at 589 Low Gap Road in Ukiah for the period of three hundred forty calendar days from the date of issuance of the Notice to Proceed; authorize the Facilities and Fleet Division Manager to act as Project Manager to approve change orders for the project, pursuant to Public Contract Code section 20142; and authorize Chair to sign same.

Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
At the First Quarter Budget Meeting in November 2020 the Board approved creation of the CI project and funding for the Sheriff’s 911 Data Center Building project in the amount of $372,000. At the August 16, 2022, meeting, the Board of Supervisors appropriated $3,732,597 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Mitigation and Resiliency funding for the project.
Summary of Request:
This contract award provides for the erection of a new hardened facility and related work to house the 911 emergency communications equipment, dispatch console and related networking and data processing systems currently housed in the probation basement. Primary funding for this project is from the CDBG Mitigation and Resiliency grant noted above. This contract is a crucial step in completing the sorely needed hardening and updates to the 911 dispatch and communications systems.

Do not authorize award and provide direction to staff.
