Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On 1/25/22, the Board established an ad hoc committee related to the Mendocino County Air Quality Management District (MCAQMD). On 2/1/22, the Board approved a similar MOU with Lake AQMD that expired 7/31/22. The Board approved a new MOU on 7/12/22, with modifications approved on 9/13/22, with a term ending 1/31/23. The Board approved Agreement No. 23-139 on 8/29/23, with a term of 1/31/23 through 7/31/23.
Summary of Request:
The Mendocino County Air Quality Management District’s (MCAQMD) Air Pollution Control Officer (APCO) retired at the end of 2021. Staff, including the Interim APCO, worked with the Board’s AQMD ad hoc and Human Resources to review and revise position classifications within the MCAQMD. The intent of that effort was to better align titles and responsibilities with industry standards; make the MCAQMD a more resilient organization, and better delineate career ladders. A Deputy APCO has been hired, and that individual is working closely with the Interim APCO. The Lake County Air Quality Management District remains willing and able to continue assisting the Mendocino County AQMD on an interim basis.
