The Board of Supervisors annually adopts a proclamation recognizing May as Mental Health Month. (Previous Board Action: May 9, 2023, Item 3c).                      

 

Summary of Request

May is recognized as Mental Health Month by Mental Health America since 1949. Today, organizations throughout the United States observe Mental Health Awareness Month by providing outreach activities to raise awareness for mental health and draw attention to the resources available to treat mental illness. During May 2024, Mendocino County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS), will increase activities to raise awareness of mental health concerns, and to highlight services and resources available in the County. BHRS recognizes May 2024 as Mental Health Awareness Month.
