Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
By Resolution 17-048 (April 4, 2017) the Board authorized the Director of Transportation to advertise for bids and award DOT Contract No. 160089 in the estimated amount of $193,000 for the Hearst Willits Road Culvert Replacement.
Summary of Request:
DOT has prepared construction plans, specifications, estimates, and contract documents for DOT Contract No. 160089, Hearst Willits Road Culvert Replacement. This project includes replacement of existing undersized culverts corroded to the point of needing replacement with a larger precast concrete box culvert. This project was advertised for bids on August 6, 2017. The bid opening was on August 21, 2017, to which two sealed bids were received. All bids came in higher than the previously authorized estimate of $193,000, with the lowest responsive bidder being Wylatti Resource Management, Inc., with a bid of $247,459. Funds for this project are currently available from the Road Fund. DOT requests and recommends the Board authorize the Director of Transportation to award, for an amount greater than previously authorized, DOT Contract No. 160089 to Wylatti Resource Management, Inc., in the amount of $247,459, for the Hearst Willits Road Culvert Replacement.

Postpone awarding of contract and delay commencement of construction.
