February 28, 2023, Item No. 3(aj), BOS Agreement No. 23-031, Board of Supervisors approved retroactive Agreement with Charles Evans, M.D. in the amount of $150,000 to provide Tuberculosis Control Officer and Other Deputy Public Health Officer duties.
Summary of Request:
Dr. Charles Evans has served as Mendocino County's Tuberculosis (TB) Control Officer since 1995. He offers expertise related to this highly contagious disease and its treatment. Per the proposed Agreement Dr. Evans has also served as the Disease Intervention Specialist and Deputy Public Health Officer. The services to be provided shall include but are not limited to: TB Control Officer duties such as enforcing regulations, investigating causes of an epidemic, consulting with physicians and providing review of TB x-rays.; Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) duties such as enforcing regulations, investigating cases for communicable disease epidemics, consulting with physicians, and providing preliminary review of communicable diseases; and Deputy Public Health Officer duties such as meeting quarterly with the Public Health Officer, serving as the Medical & Health Operational Area Coordinator in the event of an emergency, and assessing and reporting on the health of the County.
This amendment will extend the date of the contract through December 31, 2026 and increase funds to cover the additional time.
