Summary of Request:
The County of Stanislaus contracts with several Short-Term Residential Treatment Programs (STRTPs) that are both located in and certified in Stanislaus County. In contrast, Mendocino County faces limited local options for placing youth clients in STRTPs locally and must often rely on out-of-county placements. These STRTPs offer a comprehensive range of services, allowing Mendocino County youth to access the specific level of care needed within a structured environment to address mental health challenges.
There are a limited number of STRTPs in California, making it challenging to find and secure beds for youth requiring mental health services. Mendocino County BHRS intends to continue contracting with the County of Stanislaus to provide these services for youth placed at STRTPs in Stanislaus County by Mendocino County Family and Children’s Services. Currently, multiple STRTPs have accepted youths from Mendocino County Family and Children’s Services, who are now receiving appropriate care.
All clients placed under this contract must receive continuous, uninterrupted services at STRTPs contracted with the County of Stanislaus, including any additional placements required throughout the year. Through this Agreement, the, County of Stanislaus coordinates a range of psychiatric services, such as rehabilitation, medication management, educational opportunities, socialization and group activities, recreation, and transportation for residents. The overall goal is to help clients achieve greater independence and transition to lower level of care.
This Agreement, initiated prior to the new fiscal year, is being submitted for your retroactive approval due to delays resulting from the implementation of updated Policy 1 guidelines.
