Summary of Request

On November 20, 2024, the Mental Health Treatment Act Citizen's Oversight Committee received a presentation from Fort Bragg Police regarding the Fort Bragg Care Response Unit (CRU) and requested funding for the project. The Mental Health Treatment Act Citizen's Oversight Committee voted to make a recommendation to the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors to provide the program with $250,000 per year for a two-year period on the condition that they provide the committee with quarterly financial reports, continue to seek grants, and to explore additional funding sources. It was agreed that in the event that other funding sources are found, Chief Cervanka will inform the committee and recommend a reevaluation of the proposal. The organization will also continue to explore alternative funding sources to assist in covering transportation costs.

On January 7, 2025 the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors approved the allocation of Measure B funds to the City of Fort Bragg Police Department to help fund the Fort Bragg Care Response Unit.
