Approve first amendment to BOS Agreement No. 22-112 with Karpel Solutions in the amount of $9,500 for a new total of $204,400 for additional user licenses for existing software contract for Public Defender/Alternate Defender’s Office Case Management System, effective May 17, 2022, through August 21, 2024; authorize the Chief Executive Officer or designee to sign any future amendments up to 5% of the original Agreement amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

During FY 2020-21 mid-year budget, the Board of Supervisors allocated $1,000,000 to the IT reserve for the criminal justice case management system replacement. On May 17, 2022, BOS Approved Agreement No. 22-112 with Karpel Solutions in the Amount of $194,900 for the Replacement of the Public Defender Alternate/Defender's Office Case Management System; and approved an agreement with Karpel Solutions for software hosting of said system
Summary of Request:
After BOS Agreement No. 22-112 was approved by the Board of Supervisors on May 17, 2022, Karpel Solutions determined with County staff additional user licenses were needed to proceed with project implementation. The Executive Office, Public Defender’s Office and Alternate Defender’s Office is requesting the Board of Supervisors approve the First Amendment with Karpel Solutions in the amount of $9,500 for the purchase of additional user licenses for the Criminal Justice Case Management System.

Do not approve amendment and provide alternate direction to staff.
