Summary of Request

On May 28th Facilities staff was advised of issues with the Jail Kitchen freezer maintaining temperature. Troubleshooting revealed that the condensing equipment had failed and the only practical solution was to replace the equipment. Staff has proceed without delay to arrange for a temporary freezer and expedited procurement of the replacement condensing equipment. This item retroactively creates the capital improvement project as an emergency project in accordance with County Code section 2.33.080, permitting expedited procurement of the services necessary to prevent the loss of food used to feed the jail population.

Do not authorize the project and provide direction to staff.
