Summary of Request

The proposed Agreement with Redwood Community Services, Inc. (RCS) in the amount of $90,140, includes employee wages while providing for a comprehensive and cohesive training program to develop or enhance employment skills of California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) Welfare-to-Work (WTW) participants during the 25-26 fiscal year. Services will include subsidized employment for participants while they develop the skills and work history needed to obtain self-sufficiency. In addition to offering training with basic soft skills, RCS will teach participants the specifics of the position they are hired for and help them establish the references needed to move forward. Services under this Agreement will be available at any identified RCS site, opening greater opportunity for WTW participants to be placed in positions consistent with their career goals as they earn market income for the positions they fill. Since 2016, forty-six WTW participants have received ESE services through RCS.
