Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

The Board of Supervisors gave direction as to Planning and Building Services workload on January 23, 2024.

Summary of Request

At the Economic Development Cannabis Industry Sector Meeting on March 27, 2025, at previous General Government Committee meetings, and at Board of Supervisor meetings, cannabis cultivators have expressed interest in changes to the cannabis microbusiness license as well as opportunities for direct sales and distribution. This was brought up in the January Board of Supervisor workshop. The viability of the cannabis industry is at stake while this could economically benefit the entire county. Review of opportunities and limitations will incorporate feedback provided as part of the Economic Industry Sector Meeting and related public survey. Planning and Building Services and the Cannabis Department need direction to place this project on their workload and then the issue needs to be referred to the General Government Committee for appropriate consideration.
