Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On July 12, 2022 the Board of Supervisors approved an outdoor festival application for the Northern Nights Music Festival.
Summary of Request:
Pursuant to Mendocino County Code 6.16 approve the application for the Northern Nights Music Festival to be held July 14, 2023 through July 16, 2023 and authorize the Tax Collector to issue an Outdoor Festival license. This event is sponsored by the Northern Nights Music Group, LLC.
The event will be held at Cooks Valley Campground, the principal location being 83950 Road 442E in Piercy. The event includes camping, live music, and provisions for food, cannabis, and alcohol vendors. Over the course of the three-day event, approximately nineteen thousand two hundred (19,200) attendees, including two thousand (2,000) staff and performers, are expected to attend.
The Tax Collector has compiled the information required to be submitted with the application, attached to the agenda for reference, and after finding it to be complete, submits the application to the Board for approval pursuant to section 6.16.040 of the Mendocino County Code. The attached documentation contains: consent from property owners for the proposed use; a statement from the Sheriff attesting to the adequacy of proposed security; a statement from the County Health Officer attesting to the adequacy of proposed sanitation, food preparation and handling, a waste disposal; and, further documentation required with the application.

Deny the application or return to staff and request an alternative modification (due to timing of future Board meetings and event date, Board approval may not be attainable for alternatives or modifications).
