By Resolution Number (No.) 16-051 (April 19, 2016) the Board of Supervisors (BOS) approved BOS Agreement No. 16-017/Department of Transportation (DOT) Agreement No. 160025 with Quincy Engineering Inc. (QEI), for plans, specifications, and estimate bid package for a total amount of $626,000.
Summary of Request:
On April 19, 2016, the BOS approved BOS Agreement No. 16-017/DOT Agreement No. 160025 with QEI for professional design services for the replacement of the Robinson Creek Bridge on Lambert Lane. During the winter storms of 2018/19, the bridge abutment undermined causing cracking that prompted the closing of the bridge and deployment of a temporary bridge. The partial failure of the bridge has necessitated changes to the design of the new bridge, changes to the anticipated construction procedure, and changes to the schedule. Additional environmental studies have also been required by Caltrans. All project-related costs are 100% reimbursable by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), as the project sponsor. Approve Amendment No. 2 to the BOS Agreement No. 16-017/DOT Agreement No. 160025, for Engineering Consulting Services, with QEI, for an additional amount of $123,100, for a total contract amount of $749,100 so that QEI can continue this work to avoid any delays to the timeline of the project.
