Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
By Resolution Number (No.) 08-205 (October 21, 2008), the Board of Supervisors (BOS) approved BOS Agreement No. 08-185/ Department of Transportation (DOT) Agreement No. 080059, with Mark Thomas and Company for the plans, specifications, and estimate bid package for the seismic retrofit of two County maintained bridges, the Eureka Hill Road Bridge over Garcia River, County Road (CR) 505, milepost (MP) 4.92, and the Moore Street Bridge over Russian River, CR 229B, MP 0.45. By Resolution No. 18-203 (December 18, 2018), the BOS approved BOS Agreement No. 18-178/DOT Agreement No. 180027, with Mark Thomas and Company to complete the plans, specifications, and estimate bid package for the seismic retrofit of the Eureka Hill Road Bridge over Garcia River. By Resolution No. 21-04 (April 6, 2021), the Board authorized the Director of Transportation to advertise for bids and award DOT Contract No. 210021 for construction of the Seismic Retrofit Project on Eureka Hill Road over Garcia River. By Resolution No. 23-129 (July 11, 2023), the Board approved Contract Change Order No. 3, increasing the contract amount by $1,044,237.08 for a total contract amount of $2,540,899.55.
Summary of Request:
Construction has been completed. DOT would like to file the Notice of Completion to commence the applicable lien periods, and pending no claims, release Contract Sureties after expiration of lien periods. Contract surety must be released as prescribed by existing laws. DOT is also requesting the authority for the Director of Transportation to accept DOT Contract No. 210021 at a later date for the purpose of grant funding claims.

Postpone approval of the Notice of Completion and release of Contract Sureties for DOT Contract No. 210021.
