Summary of Request

On September 15, 2022, the Mendocino County Public Health Department (PH) received a Notice of Intent from California Department of Public Health (CDPH) to award federal funds to expand the workforce to assist local health departments in detecting, preventing, and controlling vaccine preventable disease in Mendocino County, improving overall coverage of all recommended vaccines.

On October 14, 2022, PH submitted their application to CDPH. On March 22, 2023, CDPH awarded PH $1,672,988.77 for the period of July 1, 2022, through June 30,2027, to strengthen and assess coverage levels throughout Mendocino County of all vaccines recommended to protect the public.

Through the proposed retroactive grant Agreement, PH will develop and implement a COVID-19 vaccination plan that ensures equitable vaccination access and encourages widespread vaccine acceptance and uptake to promote the distribution of vaccine throughout the jurisdiction utilizing Local Health Department facilities, community partners, and mass vaccination clinics. Funding from the proposed retroactive grant Agreement is intended to hire personnel to address the coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19), human immunodeficiency virus, and other infectious disease prevention and response needs over the performance period.

Due to time constraints, the grant application was submitted to CDPH prior to BOS approval, CDPH then determined a start date of July 1, 2022, and  PH received the grant Agreement from CDPH after the effective date of July 1, 2022. PH is now seeking BOS ratification of the grant application, and execution of the retroactive grant Agreement.
