Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

On June 23, 2026, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Master Position Allocation Table for the FY 2026-2027 Budget, Resolution Number 26-107.

Summary of Request:

The Human Resources Department is charged, as part of the overall maintenance of the classification and compensation plan, to evaluate current classifications, create new classifications (including appropriate salary levels), reclassify positions, examine requests for salary grade adjustments, analyze allocations, and make recommendations for additions, modifications, and corrections.

The proposed Resolution calls for the abolishment of two (2) Civil Service Exempt classifications:  Cannabis Program Manager and Director of Cannabis Program. The Cannabis Program Manager classification was last utilized in 2019, and the Director of Cannabis Program classification was last utilized in 2023.

Both classifications have remained dormant due to significant changes in the County’s organizational structure and the operational needs of the Cannabis Program. The Cannabis Program is no longer established as a standalone department or organizational unit, and the current scope, size, and level of program activity do not support the need for a dedicated program director or standalone program manager classification.

Alternative Action/Motion:

Do not adopt Resolution abolishing dormant classes and direct staff
