Summary of Request

Section 31010 of the California Government Code allows the Board of Supervisors to establish a municipal advisory council for any unincorporated area of the County.  To date, the Board of Supervisors has established five (5) Municipal Advisory Councils: Laytonville, Gualala, Westport, Hopland and Redwood Valley.  Municipal advisory councils (MACs) advise the Board of Supervisors on matters related to their geographic area as may be designated by the Board concerning services which are or may be provided to the area by the county or other local government agencies, including but not limited to advise on matters of public health, safety, welfare, public works, and planning.  The attached Resolution defines the duties of the proposed Round Valley Area MAC.  The boundaries of the proposed Round Valley Area MAC will be coterminous with the boundaries of the Round Valley Unified School District (Exhibit A of the Resolution). Establishment of this MAC will require an additional funding allocation in future budget periods, estimated at $2,500, to fund the Round Valley Area MAC operations.
