Summary of Request:
The Mendocino County Library is seeking approval of the Memorandum of Understanding with Sonoma Clean Power Authority for the use of water and energy saving Do It Yourself (DIY) Toolkits for checkouts to help county residents make their homes more efficient.
With the ever-rising costs of utilities and the concern regarding the county’s water supply, this program provides a much-needed service for the county’s residents at no cost to them. The DIY Toolkits come with tools and materials to measure water and energy consumption, provide free energy saving materials, and decrease waste. The toolkit is returned, the consumables are replaced by the branch, and they are available for the next patron.
Consistent with California Climate Commitment of reducing energy use, this MOU supports the Board of Supervisors Strategic Plan Priority of “A Safe and Healthy County: Implement practices that support a sustainable environment and responsible stewardship of natural resources.” It is our hope with this partnership to continue promoting energy and water efficiency while saving our patrons money.
