Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

On July 15, 2021 the Board approved a four-year contract for security guard services with Armorous in the amount of $400,000.

Summary of Request

On March 25, 2021 the Sheriff’s Office released Request for Proposal (RFP) SO-015-21 for Security Guard Services for inmates temporarily housed in facilities other than the Mendocino County Jail, such as hospitals or other facilities outside of the County Jail. Armorous was awarded a four-year contract in the amount of $400,000 on July 15, 2021.

The Sheriff’s Office is requesting an amendment to Armorous’ contract to increase available funds by $200,000 through June 30, 2025, bringing the total not-to-exceed amount to $600,000. In recent months there has been an unanticipated increased need for Armorous’ services for an inmate’s hospitalization at a facility outside of the County Jail that required continuous guarding for an extended period of time. As a result, the contract is quickly hitting its ceiling and additional funds are required in order to pay for ongoing security guard services through the term of the contract.
