Summary of Request

The Mendocino County Evacuation Safety Improvements grant proposal submitted in January 2024 to CAL FIRE’s California Climate Investment Fire Prevention Grant Program in the amount of $1,235,115.02 is a multi-faceted effort that proposes: (1) fuels reduction along two vital evacuation routes, (2) a County-wide evacuation plan update, and (3) funding to sustain and grow the County’s outreach and education activities throughout the year to promote fire prevention and preparedness. Once completed, the project will result in safer evacuation routes for coastal and inland communities, improve safety for firefighters and first responders, and bolster public outreach efforts that provide education and resources for living in fire-adapted communities.
