Adopt resolution ratifying the submission of the application for the California Climate Investment Fire Prevention Grant Program to the to the State Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), for the Mendocino Evacuation Safety Improvements Project in the amount not to exceed $1,235,115.02, authorize the Chief Executive Officer to execute the grant agreement and submit all documents if awarded; and authorize Chair to sign same.

Summary of Request:
The Mendocino County Evacuation Safety Improvements grant proposal submitted in January 2024 to CAL FIRE’s California Climate Investment Fire Prevention Grant Program in the amount of $1,235,115.02 is a multi-faceted effort that proposes: (1) fuels reduction along two vital evacuation routes, (2) a County-wide evacuation plan update, and (3) funding to sustain and grow the County’s outreach and education activities throughout the year to promote fire prevention and preparedness. Once completed, the project will result in safer evacuation routes for coastal and inland communities, improve safety for firefighters and first responders, and bolster public outreach efforts that provide education and resources for living in fire-adapted communities.

Do not approve and provide direction to staff and return item to staff for alternative handling.
