Summary of Request

Buckelew Programs provides suicide prevention services to all of Mendocino County through the North Bay Suicide Prevention Hotline, and the new “988” Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Through the proposed Agreement, Buckelew Programs will provide culturally sensitive and timely suicide prevention through a toll-free number that is available to all residents of Mendocino County regardless of insurance status, and will provide referrals to local providers for crisis assessments. Suicide prevention is one of the subsections of the Prevention and Early Intervention portion of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA). The services provided by Buckelew Programs are part of the larger MHSA services provided in Mendocino County, and the addition of the “988” Suicide and Crisis Lifeline service has increased access to this vital service.
