Summary of Request

The Mendocino County Fish and Game Commission and California Department of Fish and Wildlife have identified a need to protect riparian, stream, and wetlands in the inland area of Mendocino County from future development which would lead to environmental damage. The Fish and Game Commission wrote a White Paper, which is attached, detailing the problems and possible solutions including adopted ordinances from Humboldt, Lake, and Sonoma Counties.   Planning and Building Services and the Executive Office should be directed to research and possibly apply for grant opportunities to fund the drafting of an Ordinance Amendment to Division I of Title 20 of Mendocino County Code to create riparian, stream and wetland protections. Planning and Building Services should be directed to work closely with the Planning Commission in preparation of an Ordinance Amendment if grant funding is available.
