Authorize contract award to Cupples and Sons Construction, Inc. in the amount of $230,000 for the Board of Supervisors Public Health and Safety/Security Improvement Project at 501 Low Gap Road, Ukiah, for the Period of June 23 through October 29, 2021 and authorize the Facilities and Fleet Division Manager to act as Project Manager to enter contracts and approve change orders for the project, pursuant to Public Contract Code section 20142; and authorize Chair to sign same.

Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

The Board of Supervisors approved the 2020/21 mid-year budget recommendations authorizing a new project for Administration Center Re-opining Security in the amount of $350,000.

 

Summary of Request

The Administration Center Re-opening Security Project includes this Board Chambers Public Health and Safety/Security Improvement Project proposed for award as well as a separate access control project that will install scan card readers at all remaining exterior doors to the Administration Center as well as replacing interior combination locks for departmental doors with scan card readers at a total cost of just under $100,000. Under emergency powers, the Executive Office, Facilities and Fleet Division issued bidding documents to two selected contracts to ensure a competitive process while expediting project procurement and execution. Cupples and Sons was the low bidder and is recommended for award.

Reject all bids and provide alternate direction to staff for this project.
