Summary of Request

Public Safety Telecommunicators (aka Dispatchers) are often the first link between the public and first responders.  Their job is to quickly assess the call, the situation, the need and who to best fill the need; they also dispatch the required help and then monitor radio frequencies to assure the safety of the first responders.  At times they are required to coordinate with other dispatch centers, hand off calls in a timely manner if necessary and all the while enter data into complicated computer systems and software. As if all of those requirements are not enough, they must remain calm, collected, courteous and professional while helping the caller who is having a very bad day.  They may need to direct the caller to perform life-saving tasks while awaiting help. The service must be covered 24/7, 365 days a year.  With great thanks and appreciation, Mendocino County recognizes all Public Safety Telecommunicators at work in our county for a job well done.  We invite everyone to recognize their local Public Safety Telecommunicators during the week of April 14-20, 2019 which is set aside as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
