Summary of Request:
November 11, 2025, is observed nationwide as Veterans Day, a moment to honor and express our gratitude for the contributions and sacrifices made by veterans and their families. In recognition of this significant holiday, the Mendocino Executive Office respectfully requests that the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors proclaim November 11, 2025, as Veterans Appreciation Day in Mendocino County. We also wish to acknowledge and honor the many current County staff members who have served their country.
In 2023, the Mendocino County Veterans Services Office (MCVSO) filed 927 compensation and pension claims, securing $3,587,966 in federal benefits for local veterans. The average new award per claim was $3,870.51. In 2024, MCVSO filed 1,037 compensation and pension claims, resulting in $2,001,484 in federal benefits received to date. These efforts reflect the County’s ongoing commitment to supporting veterans and ensuring they receive the benefits and recognition they have earned through their service.
