Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
On June 8, 2022, the Board of Supervisors approved the recommendation of the Ad Hoc Committee to continue with the CEO Model including bringing forward various changes to Chapter 2.28 of the Mendocino County Code regarding the duties and responsibilities of the CEO. On October 4, 2022 the Board of Supervisors introduced and waived the first reading of the ordinance.
Summary of Request:
This Ordinance addresses a few clean-up items needed in the Mendocino County Code. First, the Ordinance proposes amendments to the duties and responsibilities of the CEO in Chapter 2.28, following Board direction at the June 8, 2022, meeting approving the Ad Hoc recommendation to schedule the Board & CEO’s joint review of all non-elected department heads at the first Board of Supervisors meeting of the calendar year and adding language reiterating the CEO’s responsibility for the roles of Clerk of the Board and Purchasing Agent as reflected in Chapters 2.30 and 2.32 . This Ordinance also proposes replacing all references to “Health and Human Services Agency” in the Mendocino County Code with appropriate references to the departments of Behavioral Health & Recovery Services, Public Health and/or Social Services. Additional minor changes are proposed to reflect departmental and position changes taking effect since the last revisions to the code.
Alternative Action/Motion:
If not approved, provide direction to staff.
